Internship: Guest Services Intern at Children’s Mercy
This summer at Children’s Mercy was truly a defining experience for me. As a Guest Services Intern under Ms. Sylvia Hernandez-Smith, I strengthened my leadership and communication skills by leading volunteers, collecting data to improve the greeter role, and creating a Spanish translation sheet for families. I was also honored to speak at the monthly Employee of the Month ceremony, which was an experience I will always remember. This internship gave me a better understanding of what Guest Services does and helped me grow both personally and professionally. It even made me reconsider what I want to pursue for my master’s degree and opened my eyes to a plethora of career possibilities I had not thought of before this internship. I am incredibly grateful to Ms. Hernandez-Smith, the Guest Services team, and UAF for giving me this opportunity and supporting me throughout the experience.
