UA Class: 2023
College: Langston University
Major: Animal Science
Internship: Waters Edge Intern at Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium
My summer at Kansas City Zoo and Aquarium was an amazing and career-defining experience. During this summer, I was able to see the WatersEdge team and the zoo’s veterinary team working together an a variety of levels to ensure animal health and wellbeing. I was accepted onto a hardworking team of passionate people who unknowingly helped me discover opportunities both professionally and academically. Being able to see their coordination and have conversations with staff on both ends has made me even more excited for my future and the possibilities I could choose. The hands on experiences and knowledge i’ve gained has given me the confidence that animal care is more than just my career choice, but a passion that is shared by me and many others. I am forever grateful to the staff of Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium for the encouragement, good advice, and welcoming me onto the team as one of their own.
